In the western tradition the third finger of the left hand otherwise known as the “ring finger” came about as long ago as the Greeks. They believed the third finger (not counting the Thumb) connected by a vein to the heart. “The sign of true love”. For this reason the third finger of the left hand is used as the perfect place for your wedding ring.

Normally a bride gets a wedding ring and engagement ring set so that they sit together on her finger. There is no rule of thumb as to which way they should go and it is not uncommon for a bride to wear her engagement ring on her right hand. Depending on the woman and her life style she may opt to wear her engagement ring for special occasions only so as to protect the ring and prevent it catching on clothes and getting scratched. The basic rule here is it is up to you.

Wedding Invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding if you are living in Ireland however in England we prefer 3 months before the big day. It is not uncommon for us to send Save the Dates over a year in advance.
